      that's nearly factually correct.

It's actually the Web Developer who are making the required amendments

Oh and they obviously don't post fake jobs on the boards either... http://forums.contractoruk.com/gener...9-fake-ad.html

In my experience that's half their job (especially for the latest ex carphone warehouse sales bod whose been taken on as a 'talent specialist' - yes I was once contacted by a pimp who had that as his job title on LinkedIn, even funnier was that 6 months earlier he was still at school!).

LOL. So you have a Database full of contractors and a list of clients begging to take them on?

IMHO most agencies are struggling to get clients on board and want to make sure they've got contractors on their DB so they can jump on anything that comes in.

Not cool re: fake jobs etc but I guess this is how agencies get CV. After all, how many of us go out of our way to upload our CV to 1000 agencies one at a time? Nah - just apply for stuff when you see it - job done.

Honestly? Yes - we do have an internal database of Contractors that we have either placed in the past, or who we have spoken to about past/existing (real) vacancies that we can jump on.

An Agency should ALWAYS use their internal database first before going out to the job boards and placing an advert or searching... why spend money needlessly? An agency should also (with permission) add every Contractor/CV they open to their database.

LOL. But contractors wont bother to register with every single agency there are just too many to do this.
Appreciate that if I ever applied for something through you then you;d have me registered.
BUT, must admit never heard of you before so Im not registered with you.

Fair enough try to use internal database but I dont think you're going to get the best candidates that way.

Had a guy on yesterday. I'd spoke to him a couple of weeks back, a pretty wishy washy chat, what do you do, what locations will you work, expected rate etc, but no role to discuss. A bit annoying, but I wasn't that fussed.

So he phoned me again yesterday, just checking in, have you got a new gig yet.

"oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention last time, apparently I need to get some references from you".

                  Strange wording, "apparently".

I said look I'm not giving you references before we even speak about an actual role, blah blah normal reasons.

"Oh well, we need to get them it's a good way of proving..."

I cut him off, I said "are you new to recruitment?"

                  "haha, yes I am actually"

Tore him a new one and hung up.

Have Interview, but apparently I have to give 2 email references

Grrr... have secured an interview but the pimp says

With this being a one stage application process they have requested that I send over two references before the interview so that they have them for the interview - I appreciate that you are in a role now however if you could send me two people that you worked with in the past either at x or prior to there that would be suffice - I would really appreciate if you could send me their e-mail addresses so that it speeds up the process, if not I will have to call them and then get them typed up and sent over to them as they will go in to your application.

Surely this is still silly bs.

If the interview is secured and planned just ignore that request. They're not going to cancel it.
