    They don't travel 300 miles to the job though.

    To the OP if this is an ongoing thing then you should have built it into the rate you negotiated. However, I'm going through a similar thing, WFH but was based in London and now possibly expected to travel down and stay for more than a few days. The money I used to pay in rent will quickly get chewed up in hotels and they asked if I'd expensed previously (I hadn't, I'd paid it myself). Similar work but for a different project to see out the end of the contract and so I think I'll push for them to pay. If they don't like it I guess I'll find out.
