I'm seeing a bit of action. Finish my current gig in a few weeks and got a referral last week from a long time recruiter contact which has led to getting an interview with a potential client.

Also got a call two days ago from a recruiter I didn't know after being recommended by a past colleague. It's for an IT Director role but the rate is very low as well as being inside IR35 which is a shame as it looks a pretty good role.

Baby steps. I suspect many of us will need to have a less than perfect role to see us through the next few months.

You may be right. I've seen it from the other side of the fence recently whilst recruiting a lot of people. Even though the market is really tough, I was still surprised just how many people, often with quite a bit of experience, were applying for relatively entry level jobs such as Service Desk or Application Support, whilst having a Masters Degree in an IT subject.

That only shows that degrees are mostly rubbish...

These days you can get better education online as you have access to all sorts of specialists within reach of your mouse (and wallet). Universities mostly hire people who couldn't make it and then students learn from them, all sprinkled with an unhealthy dose of Marxism.

For me, Tommy, zee war is over.

About to accept a permie job, shut down ltd and wave bye to contracting (probably for good this time).

It was fun while it lasted.

Welcome to the club. I have my own stapler and a corporate branded mouse mat. Lovin it.

I wouldn't agree that 'most' degrees are rubbish (certainly outside IT) but you're right, there's an awful lot you can learn online. Online learning doesn't suit everyone though.
