    hello again

I think the lesson I'm getting from you old timers is - "dreams are a waste of billable time, keep working, keep invoicing"

I'm also of a similar age and experience to diseasex and I'd like to think I'm aspiring to something better billing 5 days a week for the next 20 years too - the world needs dreamers, it's the first step to innovation

some people spend (waste?) their money on cars and holidays - what's it to you if he wants to spend (invest?) (waste?) it on trying to do something else

then again, you get what you pay for with advice on cuk

People are trying to help the guy who, as he has stated, is only on his second contract. The consistency of his posts was questioned and he's cleared it up. If you think that's baiting then you're probably not thick-skinned enough to be a contractor.

Out with a fellow contractor last night, on their second contract: 'I want to be a millionaire by the time I am 40'.

FFS if she had a quid for every selfie she'd get there faster than her 500 pday mediocre admin gig.

            Yes and it clearly shows.
I have a brother around the same age as you, who also runs his own business, I'm glad he is not half as naïve as you.

the world needs dreamers, it's the first step to innovation
Nothing wrong with dreaming, not understanding what you are doing and operating in a fantasy world is a problem.

what's it to you if he wants to spend (invest?) (waste?) it on trying to do something else
Look, he posted here out of his own choice, so, I don't get this what's it to you stance. The fact is he is using his company in a way no one sane would recommend.
As you have as little understanding as him, with regards to running your business affairs, I'm not surprised you cannot see anything wrong in this.

then again, you get what you pay for with advice on cuk
So, you have never put anything, you have read, on here to constructive use then?
I have many times, says it all really

Not a problem. Take as long as you need.

                fair points (1-3)
4 - I'm not saying i can't see anything wrong with it, but the attitude seems to be "don't even bother"
5 - not without checking with my accountant and/or ipse helpline first, no - should I?

Yes and the advice is "don't bother" for a very good reason.
I'm all for people being ambitious, but, he looks like he is setting himself up, for a serious fall, for various reasons.

Phhhht.... You are free, you know, to use your gut feel, own judgment etc. maybe you are too much of a dreamer to do so .

There is plenty on here that is good solid advice, I think that fact is missed sometimes.

                      THIS x 100000000000000000

On the one hand the OP was told that his dreams and schemes would never work, on the other hand he was berated for only thinking about money. So, if he fails, he loses and if he wins (and is rich from it) he also loses.

There is actually some great advice on this forum, but there is sometimes a tendency towards cynicism in the belief that if you doubt everything and believe in nothing, you can never be made to look a fool.

But if not looking a fool is a person's biggest priority in life, then foolish they are, even if they don't seem it.

Cynics get ready to cringe - I'm about to post....an inspirational quote!

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

                      Henry David Thoreau

That's exactly what I'd say to the OP. As well as - good luck, I hope it all comes together.
