Do you know any personally? Define that "many". I asked few on linkedin and they said its "very very easy to get a contract" or so.
Not saying i wont be benched for 6 months but i have other stuff to do as well, and until I bring those ideas to life I will be very unhappy. And I can always go back perm.

I'm arguing because I dont know you, you might be some BA with 2 years experience and telling everyone they shouldnt get into .net contracting because you are a failure at something else. Or you don't want other contractors take your gig
I have yet to hear "Hi i'm .NET contractor with 50 years exp and 100 certs and market changed and i dont get any contracts for years" just some random usual speach "you will fail, you will cry" etc. that doesnt help.
What would help instead is an actual tip like "Hi im succesful .net contractor and what i do is XYZ to score a contract". or "Hi i used to be sucessful .net contractor but now things changed and despite awesome experience i cant get contract".
    Does that make sense?

Hi I'm a successful .net contractor and what I do is not come on contractor forums arguing with people who have been doing it for years and are answering your questions.

.net is thoroughly bobbed and seen as easy. The rates are low. If you have any JavaScript knowledge do that. Short of going to the interview for you I'm not sure there is much else we can help with.

Contracting isn't a rosy bed of happiness. I struggled like hell to get some decent roles under me in .net as the market is flooded.

My last 3 have been through word of mouth and recommendations from other contractors I have worked with previously.

And yes of course I know some personally, of the 15 or so contractors I would count as friends, 5 of them are currently benched or are finishing their contracts soon. Albeit some by choice as the summer is coming.

Thank you very much , that's the advice I need. I do know a lot JavaScript frameworks , and I'll pick some more while on bench .
As for your friends, so you say out of 15 contractors 5 are on bench and some by choice ? That sounds pretty good to me And you're probably contracted now too ?

So the point of this thread is?

You asked for advice on the state of the .Net market then argued with the experienced contractors that responded, seems like a totally pointless exercise to me.

            Thank you for your reply.
I actually needed answers from people that are on the .net market. You see, people can always say "market is bad (looking at jobserve) , you will fail, stay on perm", but I don't need these "helpful" answers. But a little further explanation, on what base you make the judgement etc. makes your reply more meaningful. So its not arguing, its a discusson.
            Thank you

Odd that, you said you were arguing in the post I quoted.

Strangely we have seen this type of behaviour many times before in the professional forums.

Be difficult to argue with me as I haven't voiced an opinion on the .net market.

Do it mate look at it this way ... If you can't get a contract and funds run dry get a perm role from the 1 billion that are out.

Then look for a contract whilst in your 1 week probation
