" It'll take years for the UK to recover"Originally posted by scooterscot View PostJust saying.
Reading the papers this side of the channel there's complete befuddlement over what the UK is trying to accomplish. It is clear the damage, whatever the outcome of the process, has now been done. It'll take years for the UK to recover.
it took 40+ years to get us into this mess now!
It will take some time for us to return to the situation where most of the consumer goods we buy and the food we eat, are made in the UK.Last edited by JohntheBike; 24 January 2019, 14:13.Comment

For you to grasp it would have to be in pictorial form.Originally posted by Eirikur View PostPlease describe the "mess" 40 years of EC/EU membership got us into
And what is this "us" you speak of?
You will never be one of "us" in either a national or species sense.

So much of what we buy and eat comes from the EU, whereas before we joined, we were more self sufficient as a country.Originally posted by Eirikur View PostPlease describe the "mess" 40 years of EC/EU membership got us into
I asked myself the question and still ask, how have I personally benefited, or would have potentially benefited, from EU membership, and how have I personally been disadvantaged or potentially been disadvantaged by EU membership. I can't think of much for the first, as I discount infrastructure developments, which would have happened anyway, but many things for the second. I'm not going to elaborate.Comment

It's gone exactly how the EU wanted it to go. The EU want to make it look difficult and the UK government has gone ahead and obliged. They should have defaulted to a no deal brexit and spent the last couple of years making that as smooth as possible.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostJust saying.

Regardless, no deal Brexit is on the cards. Sooner we leave the EU the better.Comment
