So by your "logic", companies should slash wages...everyone wins with lower and lower incomes.
It’s logic of kapitalism - the only reason you were hired to write VB6 code is because it was slightly more efficient than 12 monkeys with typewriters, not anymore though
Wages going up -> companies going bust -> people out of job -> prices increased -> people got less money in pockets -> BoE rates up to calm wage inflation -> higher mortgage/rent costs etc - > Seize the means of production
