Does it indeedy - that's that idea out of the window then.
Will push submit on payday - it's your fault if it all goes wrong.

I have a couple of weekly paid employees. They work Tuesday to Saturday. This week is the first week of the new tax year, so we are supposed to be rti. The loop goes like this:

10 on or before paying an employee you must submit an eps
20 eps cannot be submitted until after 6th April
      Loop to 10

Similarly we should have submitted a ffps before paying any employees in this tax year, ffps cannot be submitted until Monday, employees need paying today.

      Silly silly system

Couldn't agree more. Having to transfer other monies in to tide over until Monday. Also, the user guide is ambiguous in several places, the info is just not clear.

Just a thought: when we all clamour to submit our FPS's on Monday, will the Govt Gateway hold up? Or will it fall over à la 31 Jan SA submissions?

Surely if you are paying them today, you are paying them in 12/13 and RTI doesn't apply?

Not if your financial year end is 31 March.

Surely the tax year takes priority here over your own financial year?

I.e., we're still in 12/13 until the end of this week.

Would tend to agree. Business financial year irrelevant.

If only the online bookies took bets on that. That sounds like a great challenge... what's the most obscure HMRC-related outcome you'd want to bet on...? Abolishment of IR35 for professional pigeon trainers? ...I'm digressing

I know HMRC did a big failover exercise a couple of weeks ago where they transferred all of their live services to their alternate data centre - I would imagine that exercise wasn't coincidental. They did, however, have a few hours of planned downtime during the failover which made me chuckle.

We're going to be sending EASs for all of our clients ahead of their first scheduled payroll run to help flush out DQ issues. Not sure if you can do the same with HMRC's tool - might be worth checking.

We've just finished polishing the rivets on our automated online payroll feature - which now includes RTI. Details at http://www.inniaccounts.co.uk/rti if you're in the market.

You might want to consider using the director's method - if you're paying well below the NIC threshold it won't make a bean of difference. However if you then decide to make a larger payment towards the back end of the year it may count in your favour as you'll get to mop up all of the allowance / lower threshold.

As their week ends on Saturday it's the first week of 13/14 according to my payrol software. I couldn't do a week 53 for 12/13
