What happens if the conservatives get rid of the ECHR? Where do we stand with our day in court?

If and its a big if, the tories withdrawn from the ECHR then clearly should a decision be made by the ECHR in our favour after this event, its decision would have no sway in the UK ie the Goverment would ignore it.

If the ECHR makes a decision before the tories scrap the ECHR, the Government would be bound by it.

After a sorry night for the Tories and Labour, I wonder to what degree if any HMRCs new powers have had an influence. Rob79 recently implied that there were many more people affected than the 48K touted in the official spin. No-one is going to come out and say they are voting UKIP because of current tax avoidance policies, but I'm sure it's in there in the mix of reasons. There's bound to be a lot of small, family owned businesses who even if not caught by APNs are looking over their shoulders nervously at what could be done to them without any legal process. Take them, add on their families and maybe that's enough to nudge traditional Tory voters in particular away from their traditional voting pattern.

It means, if you cash them in, you won't get any further interest. However, they still prevent any interest accruing on the tax liability.

Since CTDs pay little, if any, interest anyway it doesn't make much odds.

If you cash in a CTD you lose all the protection from accrued interest during the period you held it.
