I might have to wheel out the old HMRC Scrooge avatar.

In answer to previous question, NTRT email and contact form is fine now

Ditto, I was thinking that someone should have a scheme were you are safe from IR35, but do not 'aggressively' avoid tax. take home similar to Ltd company but low fees from the provider.

I'm almost thinking that extremely aggressive tax avoidance may in fact be a sensible option in the future if attacks by gov/hmrc increase a lot on ltd company setups.
So long as you're going through a legal setup and declaring it to HMRC surely the worse case is you end up paye (+ interest!) - same as for if you're caught by ir35?

note I'm not saying thats the case now - just that it may become so going forward!

          Impact Assessment

          Hi all,

We want to do an impact assessment of scheme users. This will be a useful piece of evidence to have when meeting Treasury officials and further down the road, and it's also something the Chair of the Treasury Select committee wanted.

Would you feel comfortable responding to something like this if we put a form on the website?

          Thanks
          DR

          Name: John Smith

          1) What is your approximate liability to tax and national insurance.............£xxx,xxx

          2) Approximately how much interest will you have to pay on top..........£xx,xxx

          3) What is your total liability (1)+(2)...........£xxx,xxx

          4) Can you afford to pay from liquid assets like savings, investments, ISAs, CTD?

If you answered No to Q4 please answer Q5-8

          5) How much do you have in savings & investments?..............£xx,xxx

          6) What is the shortfall (5)-(3)...........£xx,xxx

          7) How much equity do you have in your home?............£xx,xxx

          8) If, including the equity, there is still a shortfall how much is it (5)+(7)-(3).............£xx,xxx

          Additional questions

          9) Please describe the impact that Section 58 has had on you or your family psychologically.

          10) Please describe any impact that Section 58 has had on you professionally.

          11) What was your profession at the time of using the tax planning scheme? (i.e. contractor)

I am sure you did something similar before - I think you got 100 responses?

I am happy to do it again if it helps. But where will the information go? I don't wanting Brannigan over my form saying I am basically going bankrupt.

of course - happy to do what helps. Haven't been online for a while but have just donated some more cash.... going to have a look through to see what I've missed :-)

Always reassuring to see DR's posts

Like I did before, we would only present an aggregate summary.

If anyone in HMT etc wanted to see individual forms to check they were kosher, names would be redacted.
