Just curious what does 'table an amendment' mean in practice?

Will an MP stand up in house of Commons and propose the amendment, and then all get to vote on it? Or is it more of a corridor discussion, or comittie in Portcullis House, etc.
Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

Will ours get through I wonder?
      You sure is doesn't say:

•Use your own words; we block copied-and-pasted identical messages (and anything to do with S58).

On a serious note I always make some modifications to mine to ensure this doesn't happen.

Please can everyone email this to their MP now. The amendment will hopefully be tabled next Tuesday 26th June, hence the urgency.

        Thanks!

        Done.

Well done to everyone involved in getting matters raised to this level in such a short space of time since the NTRT Campaign started; and to the more enlightened and morally honest MPs who have supported us in our campaign. Fingers crossed that the forces of truth and light will at last prevail over those of darkness and evil!

          Unaffected by s58?

          Ditto!

Thinking about it, it might add a good deal of weight to the argument if more people who are unaffected by s58 started writing to their MPs.

There's nothing to stop friends and relatives of those affected writing to their MPs too.

As ASB has shown, there are plenty people out there who aren't affected but feel strongly or are sympathetic about this issue.

How do we know the amendment will be tabled next Tuesday 26th June. Where do you look this stuff up?

Do we know who will be debating the Finance Bill and who will vote on any amendment?

We need to find a way to ensure everybody on the comittee has acceess to the FACTS.
