    You with a bank or a financial client? This is similar to the getting a passport to prove you are eligible to work in the UK thing about 2 years ago. It became the companies responsibility to prove everyone working for them was eligible so had to all give a copy of your CV, however long you worked there. They asked the contractors, some of whom started complaining about IR35 etc... but it is the clients legal obligation to do so. You just have to see the bigger picture and understand the clients situation. If they legally have to do everyone then they are not treating you as an employee... everyone has to do it. People just jump on the IR35 band waggon to quickly.

    Just to point out as well IR35 is a grey area with lots of flags and lots of pointers, none of which invidually make you in or out. Even if this was a pointer would you get yourself walked over something that is only a flag and may never get looked at anyway? Bit of common can help in situations like these.

    I have no obligations to completing it I was just (with a number of other contractors) concerned at the way it had been worded.

    I guess you are right. They have asked for Passport verification also even though a copy of this was submitted to them when I first engaged with them.

    I will see what comes back from our response. I am not going to cut my nose off to spite my face so will end up doing it anyway. I dont have anything to hide so there wont be any problems.

      How the hell is this relevent to anyone who has been working for a few years?
      There is nothing you could glean from a security point of view either.
      Sure you could argue that they want to make sure you were at XYZ UNi for 3 years and not in afghanistan working for the Taliban. But they don't need your grades for that.

      I am guessing you are at an IB. They are always full of knobs wanting to see whether you got a 2.1 from Oxbridge.

        Are you in a french IB? I was a test case for this last year. Didn't do it. Even tho' I got contacted to say I must. Still didn't do it. No one cared.

          CS are doing this with all contractors at present. Same thing - references to employment all over the screening company's website, it caused a big fuss!

          In the end the wording on the website was changed so all references to employement were changed to assignment.
