We know the users paid a discounted rate of tax on the trust income. No NIC. No interest.
I tried to get HMRC to publicly disclose the terms of the deal under FOI but they refused.

This is what we should be pushing for as an absolute minimum in my opinion.'Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual'. -

In other words, some Montpelier users have already benefited from the deal.

HMRC, if you're reading this, which no doubt you lazy good for nothings are... I really think you should lower your expectation as to how much money you're going to collect in the face of the above evidence.
oh... happy friday by the way.'Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual'. -

HMRC will say that was then, this is now.
But they will have some explaining to do.
Why did they do a deal on a scheme which they maintain never worked?
They might be able to argue that the foregoing of interest was a concession. But why no NICs?
I'm sure they think they've won but it's not quite over yet.Comment
