    Withdrawl from HRA

Would the removal from the Human Rights Act apply retrospectively though, our would we still be covered by it if out rights had been contravened whilst it was still in place?

Despite all the grandstanding by the Tories, I can't seriously see them repealing the HRA.

It might be a vote winner though. The press and radio always make a big hoo-hah about Europe telling us what to do.

As far as I'm concerned, they are all a bunch of spineless (insert favourite word here).
I am not an expert on BN66 which is why I lurk here reading the postings by wiser heads than mine and wondering when we will know tte outcome of the appeal. However, I do consider myself as a bit of an expert when it comes to the EU (not the same as Europe by the way). Believe me when I tell you that none of the major parties have any intention of taking us out of the EU and call-me-Dave has no intention of repealing or watering-down the HRA. This makes the cunning question of whether the repeal of the HRA would be retrospective clever, apposite but moot.

All those letters we received from the treasury may have came from a person who does not exist!

Interesting. To be honest I'd be concerned that this starts to develop the Supreme Court into the oft touted Court of Public Opinion. The opportunity for the LJs to court (pardon the pun) public opinion rather than pure application of the law might be too great.

There have always been cases where unpopular decisions have been made in the past as a result of their interpretation of the law. Will that still continue? I hope so, and I'd like to believe so.
