Getting paid on a German contract?

Ah but if you're going to be here for a long'ish time then you're probably going to want to rent a property for whichyou'll not only need to register but you'll also need a German bank account...“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.” -
Regarding the freelancer route. Say you stay in a contract for years, can you still go down the self employed route paying pension insurance, income tax and private health insurance? Would that be 100% legit? Or would that still leave someone potentially open to additional charges (or is it only false self employed beyond that, which is really unlikely?)
I've reckoned up what the income tax is percentage wise (say 30 odd % for someone married), what does the pension and private health insurance add on top? Another 10%?Comment

Edit: Forgot to add, presumably there aren't dodgey AUG companies, if they've got that licence then they're doing the tax stuff by the book not offshoring things? I ask because the first one i was sent a link to was based outside of Germany.Comment

I rented a flat in Germany using my UK account. Why would the landlord demand to be paid from a German account? As long as they get paid, they don't care where the money comes from.Comment
