      Overlooked

Has anyone else not received a letter from MP, it seems that I have been missed. As it's nearly 7 years since I left the scheme maybe I've dropped off the mailing list.

Its worth dropping NW/TQ a mail to let them know. Its worth getting sorted out.

Many valid points have been made on this channel, and I have read them with intense interest. I applaud all of us for what we are fighting for, and I am very impressed with the competency of many of the postings.

I am not a legal expert, but for me, the bottom line is this: Despite all HMRC's arguments based on "public policy", "fair share of tax", "clarification of S58", "the right to retrospectivity" and the Spirit of the Law ... surely what really matters at the end of the day is the Letter of the Law.

If the Letter of the Law is applied by a higher court, and in doing so this higher court recognises that we were doing nothing illegal, I live in the hope that this higher court would find it immoral to rule against us.

I am in this till the end.
Welcome to the thread. Your first post is spot on. Without proper application of the Letter of the Law, we have no law and are no better than some of the nations we read about run by despots. Zimbabwe here we come.

              Poll

Having given it a great deal of thought, I have decided to restrict the Poll to the question of whether people's homes are at risk.

I realise others, like me, stand to lose money we've saved for our pension, but the reality is HMRC can take this off us in a shot. The family home is a bit more sentitive.

The CUK Site Administrator has configured the site so that anyone who has registered can vote. In other words, you can vote even if you don't want to post.

              Does this decribe your situation?
If HMRC demanded payment now, you wouldn't be able to pay.
In order to raise some or all of the money, your house would have to be sold.

If so, then please register and vote Yes

                IR35 article and joining PCG

A very promising article in the Telegraph
                http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/elec...-employed.html

It seems like the PCG is doing good work representing the Contractors long term interest although I know some of us dont agree fully with them. I'm thinking of joining them and adding my voice to the long term cause.

As crazy as it seems, HMRC do not have a duty of care to the taxpayers.

There have been very limited areas where they were found to have a duty of care.

If they had a duty of care then I doubt there would have been the tax credit problems, or the missing data problems, or the current PAYE coding notice problem.

There are almost no controls on HMRC, they are a department that is completely out of control.

If you are writing to your MP, demand that HMRC have a duty of care imposed on them.
There's an elephant wondering around here...
