    Ir35

and I know some other posters on this forum baulk at this suggestion and flame anyone for even daring to mention it, but if they can retrospectively shut us down, then just imagine how they can rewrite IR35 to catch everyone who has so far managed to fly under the radar, because of course, thats really what parliament meant to do when they introduced it but got it slightly wrong and missed a few key phrases in the wording of the legislation in exactly the same way they missed out a couple of key lines of text in our case...hey ho they can just rewrite the rulebook and back date it to whenever they like and catch everyone....it doesnt bare thinking about really...just imagine how much money that would be!!!! ours is a drop in the ocean...they now have case law and thats the worry!

Just imagine me trying to use the parliament line of thats what I really meant in my job....

"So why is this project late?"

"its not late, what I actually meant to say when issuing the timescales is that its a month later, so if you ignore what I originally said and backdate what Im telling you now to the start of the project then thats what I actually meant"

    huh!!!! hehehehehe

I can understand exactly where you are coming from, and I am sure many others are not relishing the prospect of this dragging on for years either.

I have discussed this with my wife this over the past couple of days, as to whether I should continue in an active role. Don't get me wrong, we've no intention of paying until every last avenue of appeal has been exhausted.

Her view is typically practical. What would I do without my cheap hobby of "HMRC bashing"? Take up golf? (For those that don't know, I'm more or less semi-retired.)

Obviously this is a personal decision for everyone but I hope the majority will stand firm.

      Deals

Feel free to try but I can't see HMRC being in any mood right now for concessions with this win under their belt.

              hang on

Before we consider deals (remember, we're being totally cheated by this) we need to take stock of the advice from MTM which they assure me is being posted to us on Monday. Let's wait a few days more and then decide what our options are. I'm sure we will feel better once we know the full(er) story
Lord Clyde in 1929: ‘No man is under the smallest obligation, moral or other, so to arrange his legal relations to his business or to his property as to enable the Revenue to put the largest possible shovel into his stores. The Revenue is not slow to take every advantage which is open to it under the taxing statutes for the purpose of depleting the taxpayer’s pocket. And the taxpayer is entitled to be astute to prevent, so far as he honestly can, the depletion of his means by the Revenue.’

Talking to my fellow Scots and English ex-pats (oops getting ahead of myself for when Scotland gets independence) that have legally utilised this scheme,
we will see this injustice through to the end.

I cant wait! Why post Monday though, there's been plenty of time to get this out today.

I would like to see some real advice from MTM instead of the rhetoric I've received from them the last 9 years.

IMO, people will now fall into 2 groups, those who have nothing to lose by fighting on and those who can pay what's outstanding as their exposure is less than say 25k and want the monkey off their back.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!
