    Cant believe anyone pays that amount per month anyway? Are you mad?

    However, I'm well aware of the stress that a bad accountant can cause. I signed up with a local one when I started in May - completely useless. Luckily, I got out of that quickly and moved to Nixon Williams.

    Cracking service now. Everything gets done for me and I'm not constantly checking or worrying that accountant has screwed something up.

    And NW were £10 a month cheaper than my previous cowboy accountant (who funnily enough was PCG approved - although they weren't interested when I passed on my comments to them!)

      Brooksons = Be wary

      I would strongly advise people to steer clear of Brooksons. They couldn't have given a worse service - its as if they were actually trying to screw things up. They gave my personal bank details to the client company instead of their bank account, meaning I was receiving the gross amount without NI or VAT deducted, and I had to write a cheque to my Client to repay the VAT, however despite countless emails I have never received a reply to any of my queries for detailing my NI payments. I no longer work through Brooksons and have been trying for months to obtain the information I require to complete a tax return, (which they are supposed to do as its part of the fee I've paid). I receive lovely apologetic emails but never the information I need. I've now employed an accountant at further expense to try and sort out the mess they've made. Even simple things like they were sending my invoice to the wrong person on a weekly basis and I was advising them of this error and supplying the correct email address - and despite assurances that my file was updated and there was no way my invoice could be sent out wrongly again, it continued to happen for 2 months. This meant a colleague was aware of my private financial information and it caused a lot of trouble in the office as I was earning a higher rate. Brooksons did not honour their part of the contract in my opinion, and I will never use them again, its just not worth the hassle. I know of 5 other people who returned to Brooksons after the composite company changes and not a single one of them now uses Brooksons as they have made horrendous mistakes. It's honestly much easier to run a limited company than deal with Brooksons.

        I am fuming that as a small company of one I have worked hard taking less holidays to try to make ends meet and yet my old accountant. They took 5 attempts to complete my annual accounts and meant I paid a fine for late personal tax filing.
        I closed the company (receivership) because the accounting was incorrect and a mess and while customer services were always pleasant the actual relevant service of good accounting was sadly lacking. No longer my accountant since December they have surpassed themselves they have been liasing with official receivers without informing me, needless to say with incorrect accounts, there appears to be no interest in providing a fair honest service. Anyone have any ideas as to who I can formally complain to about this company behaviour, Ive given up communicating with them.
