You can request a state pension projection (you'll need to google to find out from which department, I can't remember) which shows amounts due to contracting out of SERPS and S2P (the SERPS replacement). I did this a while back, however I think the service is temporarily suspended at the moment.
I think it is only suspended for retirement dates in the next couple of years. I got an online forecast a couple of weeks back.
