Most amused by the FUD on your website....
I run a very successful scheme that pays 115%. Get your client to send payments to my off-shore vehicle and I will send you 115%. I make the money by taking 25% of the VAT paid and have an agreement with HMRC that this is fully compliant with the letter of the law.

You are obviously so right - if there is one thing that Government and HMR&C are famous for it is instilling Security, Certainty and Reassurance. Oh and apologies for not being able to provide an entertaining acronym

Sometimes I don't know what I most want for these EBT'ers: to have their house repossessed following a massive tax bill and fines or to catch an unpleasant hospital acquired infection in an underfunded NHS hospital.

Which EBTers are you referring to Greg?
I am through a LTD co. So sorry to disappoint, but good luck with your wish. It may come true for someone you care about. Lets hope so huh?

You must be ever such a bitter person to wish ill on anyone.

Go read the BN66 thread and get your rocks off.

                  No need to apologise Lisa.

The umbrella company "industry" is built on FUD.

If you told people truly how easy and inexpensive it is to run your own LTD company you wouldn't have a business.

Good luck. you fill a demand. but don't get too righteous about it.

Am referring to all the EBT'ers. Glad to hear you will not be subject to my curse.

Like anyone I've looked into tax planning and taken various steps in the past.....

I think your wish is misplaced based on a misunderstanding.

As far as I am aware an EBT only delays your tax liability. They never entirely get rid.

There is always a loan there. If you close the loan with your trust then it is as though they paid a disbursement.. triggering a taxable event wherever you are resident. The loan is payable and there is an agreement. When you die the loan can be used to reduce your assets. Not sure what happens in this case with a taxable event.

I think some of them used to write off the loan somehow but this was pretty clearly never going to be sustainable.
