    Exchange Server on Vidahost

Hi all, being the slightly technical noob wot I am, a question.

I've got web-hosting with Vidahost, based on earlier suggestions, and have setup my email addresses using the free email service they included.
I checked out Bizspark and MPN when I saw the thread in General and see that I can get MS Exchange Server included if I join. If I got this, is it something that I could install on Vidahost myself and start using for email?

if so, has anyone done this themselves, and how complex would it be? I'm wondering if I'd be better off finding someone who knows what they're doing to sort it for me.

Vidahost have an excellent support service, it would be best asking them direct.

If you have a locally hosted Exchange Server i assume you will need to config your Vidahost MX record to your routers IP address which will need to be a static address from your ISP

Yes, I'm working hard co-delivering a training session at the moment so couldn't get on to them at the moment, but the thought struck me so I posted here..

I actually understood most of what you said, but no, wouldn't want to host it locally (by which I presume you mean on my own hardware), I just wanted to shove it up on my server space somewhere, do a bit of config and have it work!

Most if vidahosts servers are a) Linux based and b) shared unless you start shelling out for a dedicated windows based server and if you are doing that might as well go for the hosted exchange option at something like £8 per user per month, but the question is what do you specifically want from an exchange box that you can't get from vidahosts IMAP service?

I've not had BizSpark before but if you're on the MPN you may be eligible for Cloud Essentials which I understand gives you some seats for Office 365 including Exchange email. Never tried it myself but keep meaning to.
