Nope, safety is paramount and the newer cars are safer. Anyway cash isn't an issue.

Do you plan to crash? I've never thought about safety when buying a car. I do remember an advert for S-Class Mercs back in 1990. It showed a family standing at the back of the Merc. The camera then panned round to the front which was missing practically everything from the A-post forward. Most impressive.
