Ok, so you've always known I'm a little strange....

But today I just proved it in style.

Did some chores this morning, followed up on some good leads for direct work which are still looking good. Had my parents over cooked lunch for us.

This afternoon came though and I was feeling a little restless TV was tulipe so decided to get my passport updated. That done but still I wanted more excitement. Fancied speaking to someone, didn't care who but as all my mates were at work I had to think of something.

Then it hit me! Surfed to a logistics site found an job advert that I was horrendously over qualified to do. Applied for it and about 10 mins later the phone rang with said agent on the line (surprise, surprise). Amused myself a bit by inventing qualifications that I don't have or even exist and playing guess the client with her (I got this one right). Managed to get through 2 cups of tea so suitably happy that I'd wasted 40 minutes of her time I said I'd think about the info she gave me and I'll get back to her in a day or so.

I enjoyed that so much I may do it tomorrow. Who needs friends when there are desperate agents out there willing to amuse me for 40 minutes

To answer what your all thinking.....why yes, I am special.

That could be the ugly downside to this.

You managed to talk to a pimp for longer than 5 minutes without being sick?

          You are indeed special!

I've been very lucky for the past three months and counting, with a couple of piece-work contracts (might be the way to go guys if you're having no luck, at least for clients with a smallish well-defined tasks).

But in my month off late last year, I had the distinct feeling that some agents were just ringing to have a chat and pass the time of day, sort of whistling in the dark.

With one guy who rang there was that weird echo you only get in an empty room. So I pictured him sitting on a tea chest with all the furniture gone. Or maybe he was in the bog.

So today I was bored again and decided to read the argos catalogue while in costa coffee.

Got a few strange looks. I know its not the independent but don't judge a book by its cover. Its a good read.
