I do not accept this opinion. Unlike you I don't operate on narrow minded opinions and I take into account conversions - they are very high.

The site can certainly be made better, but it is currently good enough so I focus more on getting bigger/better database (which is USP - not flashy web 2.0 site), and less on CUK posting trying to justify my strategy.

I have a solution for this too, active in a few weeks time, though everyone won't be pleased - there are always people who think Porsche is expensive, some people check sites like Google and of course price will be high for those - there are billions of backlinks pointing that site, processing all that data is not cheap.

trying to understand your competition.
For example, the people who run a news site always want
to keep track of any signicant backlinks the competition has managed to get. Also, PageRank can
help the user decide if a site is trustworthy or not. For example, a user might be inclined to trust
information that is directly cited from the Stanford homepage"

Page and Brin actually.

Only they found more lucrative business since then - thanks to VCs in USA, if they were in UK they would not get any money - especially from Dragons

Thus proving DP's point.
It's a classic techie schoolboy error to focus totally on technology to the exclusion of marketing/appearance/design or pricing or anything else that might make it a business rather than an obsession/hobby horse.

AtW, nowadays all engineering academic departments are teaching their students about the importance of usability and look&feel, however genius the product they develop or the mathematic algorithm behind it, if people don't like the look of it or don't find it easy to use, then they'll not buy it, and if they were desperate to buy it, they'll ditch it as soon as a better model appears on the market.

Why won't you do better than me then? Say I could do your job much better than you. In fact I am already doing it by posting great stuff on CUK

Back to work now - see you at the next milestone.

You don't have the expertise, intelligence, judgement or qualifications.
But of course in your mind you own a bank that could challenge Lehman and are an expert in economics and business.
The self-delusion is stunning and getting sad now.
I won't be holding my breath about your next milestone, which will be of interest, no doubt, to no one but yourself.

I actually understood you. It is you who failed to get the irony of what you were saying in relation to what I do.

First of all, I removed squirrel photo from my business site. It remains in place on my project site which is not business focussed. If you don't like it then it's your problem.

Secondly Google regularly make funny odd changes to their main business site logo.

Anyway, those of you who pick on my business seem to have failed to heed the recent SKA updates - I will have great pleasure of making an example of you for the future generations
