For those who prefer to pay themselves annually, there is (once again) an alternative to monthly 'nil' RTI submissions:

We have received a number of requests since April from employers, asking that we change the status of their PAYE schemes to annual. We were unable to deal with these requests until we put a fix in place.
That fix is now in place. We will accept all the requests that have been made and change those schemes to annual.
