    Upgrading the Action Pack

I logged in to see the price of the new Dev Action Pack but I can't find it. I can't buy it at present as I have to wait for my current subscription to expire.
I have a ticket open with MS on this as we had had an email saying we could swicth at no extra cost and would receive an email with a promo code. No such email arrived. Our current MAPS SP sub was only recently renewed so it seems a cockup that the D&D sub should supposedly not be on teh upgrade path...

I emailed MAPS about the fact they semi-promised a free upgrade, since my AP also renewed just before the change:

      Good day,

      Thank you for your e-mail.

With regards to Upgrading subscriptions, we need to inform you that this will not now be possible. Should you wish to change the subscription, then we would first need to cancel your current subscription, for this a full refund would be made.

You may also use the offer available of a 15% discount for the
Microsoft Action Pack Development and Design which is available to the
20 June. This can be found using the link below along with the
      requirements to obtain the subscription:

I got an email on 27th May asking to call a number for the regional service centre which I did. The guy on the end of the phone talked me through the process. He cancelled my existing subscription and started the new one, and gave me a code. I had to wait for their website to update then take a short course and assessment on the new system, then given the option to purchase the new product, entered the code and got a 12 month subscription.

        1) Between now and June 30, 2010, contact your Regional Service Center and identify yourself as a Microsoft Action Pack subscriber and former Web Solutions Toolkit recipient. Inform the agent of your desire to change to the Action Pack Development and Design subscription.
        2) The agent will cancel your current Action Pack Solution Provider subscription and will walk you through the process to order the Action Pack Development and Design subscription at no additional charge. You will need to have access to the internet to complete this step.
        3) Once your order has been fully processed, your new Action Pack Development Design subscription will be activated for the duration of one year.
        All pretty painless.

This wasn't the case for me. I called the regional service centre, and they said they could cancel my existing subscription but that there would be no refund and I would have to buy a new one and take the test. I'm 4 months into my subscription, so this is obviously not a cost effective option. I'm happy to pay more for the Design and Development, but there is no upgrade path it seems now. As I only just received the CDs it wasn't a case of me letting any option lapse, I phoned up almost as soon as I got them. Bit of a pain really.

Bugger, I check the thread too late. Sigh. Put an L on my forehead why don't you all.

              Don't count on it...

My CoSec phoned late June and was given an offer code to get the new subs free, she tried to sort this on the 25th, 26th, 28th, & 29th of June but the website was under too much strain and she couldn't get the codes to accept.

On 1st July she phoned to explain and ask if there was any way we could still get it, she was told the deadline had been extended to the end of July because of the demand. So we sorted ours about 5th July

Well spoke to the regional office today and basically if you'd done a specific assessment (web design or development I think) then you qualify to switch to the design and developer MAP.
Now I don't recall that being mentioned when the subscription was announced, so its a bit of a bummer.
I must wait until January now to get a hold of it.

That could explain it, I did the web developer assesment when I took out the subscription...

So, my subscription expired on 17 Dec 2010 but the letter giving me two weeks notice was delivered late and I don't regularly use the registered (hotmail) email address.

Anyone know if I will still be able to renew or will it be classed as a new sub?

It will be classed as new subscription and you'll have to pass all sort of tulipy MSCE like tests to earn points in order to qualify for it
