Although to be fair "lessons learned" in most clients really translates to "blindingly stupid mistakes that we are destined to repeat again and again even though we pay lip service to continuous improvement"
PS Can I be added to your sig with:
"Suity isn't the biggest d*ckwad on CUK" although he is not far off
Thanks in advance

I'd skipped over this thread, but caught a glimpse and it sucked me in. I had to read until the end but now I'm up-to-speed.
Phew!
Go Suity indeed!
Although I feel that the comment
is sometimes all you can do in certain circumstances. For example, you do sloppy work as you just meekly accept this is the way things are done, it goes to pot, how do you defend against that? I cut corners as requested, pointed out the risks, they took them and it's all their fault?
I'm a Water Dancer kind of gal - give ground gracefully but always have the recovery net in your back pocket and steer the client to best practice when they realise that BP really is the best way after all.
I have 2 sayings:
'You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.'
'There's more than 1 way to skin a cat.'
It's no good being in the right as the client boots you out of the door for being an intransigent idealist.
Persistence - that's the way for me."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."
