1. Have you ever been to Bradford - do you have any experience of the city unlike some of the posters who have lived / worked there
2. What is racist on this thread and what is actual fact (PS at one of the Asian festivals held in the city attended by many of differing cultures, one of the most popular items being sold was a T-shirt with the slogan "Born in Bradistan" which many of the youths of Pakistan origin were buying and wearing.

1 - I go to bradford/leeds all the time. I have plenty of friends who live there.

2 - I never said using the word Bradistan was racist, I was referring to some of the other posts talking about it being a mistake bringing in people from Pakistan etc.

What a moron. We are taking about the demographics of a city, i.e. it's statistical make up. The fact the place is a dump isn't necessarily connected. Both are factual, no one has said anything racist yet.

It's do gooders like you that are the problem. As soon as you talk about colour you play the racist card. Talking about colour and make up is not racist.

We could have the same discussion about large council estates. Buttershaw is the worst dump I have had the misfortune of seeing which is also in Bradford and the only thing that has ever come out of there is Rita Sue and Bob Too. Same thing but there isn't a word like racism that covers this to hide behind.

Ravenscliffe was the worst estate from experience having lived near it - and this was nearly exclusively white when I left in 2001.

FWIW, according to the 2011 Census Leicester has a white population (not just English, but all white) of 50.6%, which is the lowest in the UK. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have contributed 31.8% of the population, which is the highest in the UK.

However we don't seem to have the huge problems* some in this thread are asserting exist in Bradford, so our situation doesn't provide much traction for racism. Maybe that's why we get ignored in these discussions?

That's a fair comment - perhaps it is more to do with the class of the people there as a whole.... If that is what you guys are saying then I don't object. Saying that I have found that although Bradford does look like a bit of a dump, it isn't that bad a place to go visit and the people are quite nice.

It has a lot to do with if you know the area or are a visitor. I don't know much about Leicester and wouldn't mind going but knowing Bradford and it's problems I would rather chew my left toe off than go by choice.

You can't judge a city and it's problems from fleeting visits.

BTW, if you want to see racism park your car on Thornton Road and walk a few hundred yards with your missus. I genuinely think you would be shocked if you could translate what was said around you.

Leicester was one of the main settlement areas for the Asian African diaspora from Uganda etc in the 1970s. A more civilised and better educated and largely better integrated set than your village hill tribe set in their medieval ways. I know because I work with a lot of them and unfortunately live near the other lot.

Are you able to translate it? If not, then how do you know what they were saying was shocking?

I don't know if I am the only one - but I find a lot of these posts quite openly racist. True there are issues with Bradford and some of the Asian culture but the rants in here show a lot of intolerance and are not going to solve any of the problems being ranted about....

I personally think the mods should do something about this.

Racism is stating that race X is superior to race Y.

No-one is claiming that here.

What it is being claimed is that Britain is the living space of the British people, and the import of foreign communities to alter the original ethnic/demographic map of the country is a very bad thing.
