The Benefits "industry" is also of huge political significance.
If benefits were not needed and there were no poor people the lefties would have no reason to tax us and centralise power. I would wager that most of the people in the benefits industry vote labour so the left have no interest whatsoever in getting rid of poverty. In fact by killing enterprise , undermining aspirations and discouraging social mobility they positively encourage it.

It is true on the council estate I grew up on everyone voted liebour, I never ever thought I would vote Tory in all honesty but I have been for a while now. I believe in the principle behind benefits but not in the way they're currently being allocated.

benefits should be a fall back in times of genuine hardship, but thanks to the left they have become a way of life.

To be honest, the only benefit with the likes of Comet, currys and PC World is if you want something right now and are prepared to pay for it! None of them give the customer any useful product information. None of them seem interested in giveing a good deal either and customer service is pretty poor. I went to comet a bit ago to buy a coffee machine. It was advertised for £70 and showed as being in stock. I got to the store, because I wanted to see the real thing to make sure that it looked ok etc but there were none on display. There was nobody around and I had to go and hunt for one of their staff. I was told that the website was wrong and that they were not going to get anymore in and if I wanted they could arrange to have one sent over from another store but it would take a week - how is it trasported? Carrier slug? I went in 2 days later and there it was but now at £90. All they seem interested in is selling their expensive extended warranties.

When Dixons were the sole supplier of electrical goods on the high street they would sell products that had a 300% breakdown rate. they had a (deliberate) policy of ignoring complaints three times and would eventually replace the item.
their analysts worked out that people would simply give up and go and buy another product or do without.

These days other than empty units the high street seems to be made up of coffee chains, fast food, mobile phone vendors, greggs a few well known clothing stores and departments store. You have to go online to be able to buy what you want nowadays

Or estate agents (interesting that they have not been replaced by rightmove). I do not think it is so much on line as out of town. The high street has been killed by punitive parking enforcement and ridiculously high rates and rents.

That's not my experience, I bought a dryer, dishwasher and laptop from Currys in the past 6 months as they were the cheapest I found despite having shop overheads and even if they were a slightly more expensive I'd still be able to take them back if they fail.

I must admit I didn't need any 'expertise' as I do thorough research and they were all special offers, as is every single thing I buy these days!
