How about a 'muzzie', as you call them?

I think it would be more controversial to see a white man 'blacked up', than it would be to rule them out of the casting based on their colour.
Well I subscribe to the BBC Ouch! podcast (worth a listen) and they talk about this in the context of disabled characters... they are very unhappy when non-disabled actors are used to play disabled roles, when there are disabled actors around. So it seems there are special rules but maybe they just play the "he is best for the part" and ignore black peoples' applications for a white character rather than advertising "no blacks".

I always thought Olivier looked rubbish as Othello. Ok in opera but obviously wrong people in historical plays ruins them whichever way round it is. Don't mention Merlin.

No problems with what troll said and if I was recruiting I would have the same policy.

Can I just say how disappointed I am in some peoples attitude towards this activity.

It appears that wanting local born resources in preference to imported labour is perceived by some as shameful, also the extrapolation by some posters shows just how PC this country has become

A sad reflection on our broken nation, I shall be monitoring those posters subsequent comments on "Bobs" for any hypocrisy
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

This is a false dichotomy. A person may have been born overseas to British parents and have been a British citizen all his life, British educated, and quite capable of working well in a British environment.

I wonder how many of these people have had the great opportunity to work with the chaps from the 'old colonies'.

The original point being made was you didn't want Indians because you thought they were no good. What's that got to do with some patriotic impulse to use native workers?
