Yes. It's my own stupid fault for not insuring the car, driving like an idiot and screwing up my life. You have to take responsibility for your actions at some point.

Fortunately I have private and permanent health insurance because I understand the risk to my income of scenarios like that, insure my cars and drive within the laws of the country as set down by parliament so I won't be in that predicament.

Does your private health insurance pay for emergency treatment? Did your private insurance pay for the training of the doctors, nurses and physios that you are going to need?

I presumed you actually insured the car otherwise you would be paying for the hedge, road surface and other structures you damaged.

Plus the call out of the emergency services that are required. People automatically dial 999 so the state emergency services would get their first including possibly the fire brigade to cut you out and an air ambulance to get you to hospital fast.

In fact if the UK was like the US in that situation you would file for bankruptcy and so would escape your debts.

No but I've already stated that the welfare system is a valuable safety net and was attempting to emphasise the issues with irresponsibility and not acknowledging the responsibilities that come with "rights"

But, we should all be saving more.....but the govt must print money, otherwise we will end up with deflation......where everyone stops spending for a while......which is the same as saving.........

So saving is good, but deferred spending is bad.

Currently sprawled out recovering from one of the best Chinese meals of my life, in a fantastic hotel, in Hong Kong. There won't be any change out of 20k by the time of are done

Reading this thread should be a reminder to smell the roses along the way. As some of you already know, I have just started out on a 2 month break. Currently sprawled out recovering from one of the best Chinese meals of my life, in a fantastic hotel, in Hong Kong. There won't be any change out of 20k by the time of are done, but worth every penny imo. You can't spend it when you are dead and I don't want that horrible oik Osborne getting his hands on any more than necessary.
The only joy is that my dear old mum stands more chance of becoming PM than him currently
