    Windows networking / PC issue

    Here's the deal.

Have several PC's all connected Wirelessly to a home router which connects to Virgin media cable (10 mbit connection). All works fine.

Have new PC running Windows 7 Pro again connects wirelessly no probs.

If I run speed test (www.speedtest.net) from exisiting PC's it goes straight to 9.8 mbit. Seems good.

New PC doesn't even get 1 mbit. Consistent but slow.

Wireless connection is signal "fair" connected at 54 mbit to router.

Any ideas on what is wrong on this new PC with the bandwidth being 10% of the other PC's?

    Cheers,

    DP

Tons of hits if you Google for "windows 7 slow network". I don't have it here but I do remember fiddling with frame sizes way back when (I was on ADSL then).
Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.

The problem is that your new PC doesn't have Linux installed

      HTH.

He'd be lucky if Linux even recognised his wireless network card nevermind actually do something useful.

Linux Mint 7 (and 6, 5), will see the wireless card and everything else. Latest Ubuntu does as well

I've installed Linux and now Internet Explorer has vanished!
