Umbrella - too much of a pay cut and not worth it. If convert to perm now would this be a bad idea? Would taking another 3 contract in another company be any benefit?
Hi, I am interested in any information around 'director employee status' in the IR35 context i.e. I am effectively already a PAYE employee of my PSC I receive a salary and pension etc (I could even take this further and write my own HR policies). But more practically I have questions, if Im...
Hello all, and thanks in advance for your input. I'm a fairly young guy ( over 30 but under 35 :) ) with plenty of years experience in the SaaS consulting world. I've been approached by different recruiters quoting 600£+ and expenses to work on different projects as a contractor. It would be a...
Hi
I work for a large company in the City, not a bank.
They have dev team of around 70 about 50-70% are contractors.
I've been contracting here since 2012. Probably the 2nd longest other is a QA.
Risky but I live 5 mins away so pushed it.
Currently on 460/day.
Contract is up in two weeks...
I've taken a look at all three of these in terms of IR35 insurance - Larsen Howie / QDOS / IPSE
Interested to hear your experience of them and which is the best in your personal opinion (i.e. not because you get commission to push them).
Unsure about IPSE given comments on the forum...
have been working 5 years within same client/company via an agency. So the explicit assumption is all contractors will be inside IR35 from next year as per the client. The agency is planning to replicate the same as they are not bothered to take any risk. We are happy with client & agency and...
Lloyds have today announced that all PSC contractors will be communicated by 8th October with news that they will be offered 3 choices a) Leave b) Go Perm c) Go via umbrella company. Following which a short data capture session will be held with Line managers to capture contractor preference...
Hi all
My contract and all others in the client are now being reviewed over the next three weeks. My actual end date on my existing contract is 31 Oct.
Should and very likely as a blanket approach without any input from me or my client, I believe they’ll say my contract is inside ir35 and all...
Hi All,
Apparently my end client has now assessed that my upcoming contract is deemed to be with in IR35 rules.
I have been given the following list of preferred umbrella companies by the end client.
Can some one please let me know your experience/recommendations from the list below,

Hi everyone!
First time posting here. Recently started contracting and I've had my contract reviewed by QDOS. The last stage is to do a working practices assessment.
This is both a IR35 question and an advice on for you seasoned contractors.
When it comes to working practices regarding time...
Hi All
I'm new here - been reading the forum for a few years but only decided to join today.
I've been an IT contractor, working via my own Ltd co for 2.5 years. Worked with 2 large bank clients in total - 1st bank for 14 months, then I took 3 months off, then went to 2nd bank. I've been at...
Hi,
Quick question - how many folk here use a gym connected to their clients site? I'm looking to join a gym having landed my first contract and the most convenient one is located within the same building I'm currently providing services at. Membership is slightly subsidised as its only...
As the IR35 changes have been in the public sector for a while, is there now a general feeling as how clients have reacted?
Have they generally flagged most contracts as in IR35?
Of the available public sector contracts are they generally in IR35 still?
Have clients offered increased rates...
Hi. I have been contracting in risk technology at a few banks in London. But recently I have been out of contract for 8 months.
I have been offered a permanent opportunity (the pay is a lot lower as its PAYE).
Do you think the contract market will recover at all? and If i take the perm role...
Hi All,
I have been working on a project for the past 6 months with a single client. They wish to extend my contract for another year due to a new project.
However, they want to put a clause in my contract for a 1 month notice period as they want security from me that I won't up and leave mid...

I have been contracting for 12 years and am going through an amicable divorce (her choice). Brexit and Off-payroll rules will possibly mean the end to contracting for me and as we were also married for exactly the same time period and my ex was a shareholder, she couldn't have timed it better in...
Hi,
I am a total newbie to contracting and looking to start out a contract for engineering design services to a company based in London. The contract is through a recruitment agency, and they have stated the contract I have to sign will be with them (a lower level contract) and that it is...
Hello,
I was a permanent employee for a company (let us call it A Data Technologies). I have now resigned and started a limited company and have a contract with another company (Let us call it F Financial Institution) unrelated to my original employer.
My previous employer A Data Technologies...
