Bizarrely I have to click on the star only once to get the little dialog, but if I'm not able to re-rate the first click does nothing, only on the 2nd do I get the "spread it about a bit" message.
Right. Got all the emoticons back on the right hand side. Predictably it was my fault (I think) I probably changed to basic editor when I was trying to read and post on here using my old Nokia E71. Thanks for all the Reputations folks - they are about evenly matched between pos and neg so I haven't really moved. Considering I never even noticed they existed until today that seems like a good result.

Duly noted. I've already sorted out quite a few bugs in the rep system, but that one hadn't been brought to my attention before. I'll prod it and see if it quivers, shimmies, or shakes
Thinking about it, I vaguely remember noticing what looked like an anomalous flow of control in the (frankly amateurish) JavaScript responsible for such matters. Rather than prodding, it may be time to say bollocks to the vBulletin mob and hit it with the Hammer of Competence
EDIT: No, I'm wrong: it looks like they managed to **** that up server-side. I'm still bringing the hammer to bear though
Easy to narrow down. Negs count half. So a 10k poster negs -5
Just work it out
Is there a formula for calculating the full positive rep? It sounds from what you say that it will be a linear relationship of the form rep = k * postcount

Where k is the number required.
No, it also depends on the reputation of the repper and how long they have been on the board.
