Newspaper

Aargh! Not the Daily Heil!

I'm a left wing, tree hugging, lentil muncher, a beeding heart namby pamby wishy washy airy fairy hand wringing fckwit. Can I get away with reading the Telegraph? A damn fine bourgeois running dog Tory rag IMHO.

ok, the telegraph for you,
only because you are arty farty as well

get a kindle

I'm not a big book reader, I only read books to educate myself .
You can get newspaper and magazine and blog subscriptions on the Kindle (not sure why you'd pay for a blog?) as well as use it for simple web-browsing (like news sites) when you've got a signal.

Is £10/month for a Kindle newspaper subscription considerably different than buying it in paper, what do papers cost these days?

All Kindle Newspaper subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial. You can cancel at any time during the trial period. If you enjoy your subscription, do nothing and it will automatically continue at the regular price. If you cancel at any time after the trial period, you will pay only for the items you've already received.

Its a quid for the Times, so its actually cheaper to get the kindle sub, might try it out, but trying to convince the missus will be hard, as I just bought a new PC and an Ipad a few months ago.

I buy The Telegraph every day on the way to work as it's the paper best designed not to elevate my blood pressure. I also do the crosswords and sudokus. I'm on the train an hour and I have just enough time to read the paper and finish the crosswords before I get to Waterloo

The Times is too left wing for me but they have the best crosswords, sudokus etc. I have to buy The Times sometimes as The Telegraph is often delivered to the station late.

The Guardian is read by fools and all the other papers (Mail, Sun etc) are no better than comics.

I have a Kindle that I use to read books on the way home.

It's an exciting, rip-roaring life being a commuter. I feel all Wilmslowed now.

Ill try the Telegraph tomorrow.

I was thinking about buying a Kindle what with probably having to return to the smoke for a gig (boo hiss). It seems that you might just be able to swat up on technologies without having to carrying round a hundred weight text book. While researching it I noted that the Kindle newspaper editions are receiving poor reviews, the Telegraph in particular.

For what it is worth (very little) I always have a read of the Telegraph online in the morning, followed by a quick look at the Guardian for a bit of 'balance' and then find myself re-reading the Telegraph to make me feel better. Do note that Polly Toynbee articles should be avoided at all costs.

When I was commuting into Leeds, I used to choose reading material just to see the effect on the crumblies & students with whom I shared the bus.

Books on communism got respect from the students but not the crumblies.

Reading The Socialist Worker had the opposite effect.

Reading Viz got me looks of dismay from both groups.

I never had the bottle to sit there and pretend to read Pravda or some other foreign-language paper for fear of the person opposite leaning over and saying "Hey, Chumski. Vot is it you see so interesting in the gay adz today?"

When I was last in London and commuting on the tube <shudder> I had my Sony e reader and was reading Darwins 'On the Origin of Species'. Its actually quite interesting, but I'm only about half way through. i need another contract down in London to finish it off! Don't think that'll happen for a while though :D

The ending is quite good, the monkeys become humans.
