The only hope is that due to high latency of communications between Mars and Earth they won't be able to post tulip here as near as much as our own spasguru does...

You'd all better get a move on if you want the utopia planitia shipyards in business.
Aint going to happen. And the galaxy isnt teeming with intelligent life either. If it did, we wouldnt need to be searching for 50 years for their signal.
We'd see evidence of them easily, even with current technology. Also, one intelligent species could, travelling at only 1% the speed of light, colonise the whole Milky Way galaxy in around 15 million years. (Some say 10 million, some say 20 or maybe even 50 million.)
We dont see any evidence of this in a galaxy more than 13 billion years old and supposedly, teeming with other intelligent civilisations.
We are, probably, the oldest and most intelligent lifeform in the galaxy at this time.
