I dont vote ToryLet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -
I was generalizing and not referring to one particular voter or one particular party. Here in Holland, the socialists, the green socialists, the social democrats and the liberalish socialists all believe in GW. The Christian Democrats have their doubts, as do the Christian party, and the liberals (conservatives in British terms) don’t believe it. The Geert Wilders gang don’t believe it and if they did they’d say it was a muslim conspiracy. As you move from left to right on the political scale you find less and less belief in Global Warming, and I doon’t think Holland’s unique in this. The same pattern is seen in Germany (CDA government but skeptical membership) and the USA.Originally posted by sasguru View PostI vote Tory. Guess what the official Tory position is? Anyone? DA?

As for me, I don’t really know. I find it a plausible theory, but I also feel I have to be on my guard all the time because so many of the people trying to persuade me one way or the other seem to have a hidden agenda. In really dumb, simple terms, the left want me to believe it so they can charge me more tax on my contractormobile. The right don’t want me to believe it because they want to build a multi storey pig farm near my house which will pollute the whole area with stinkiness, noise, damage to the roads and miserable pigs. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? I must admit my view was CO2 is driving climate change but it wasn't as bad as they say. Now I'm convinced Easterbrook and one or two others have cracked it, and that there is a mechanism between the sun and the earth, as shown with sunspots.
But we'll see, as Easterbrook predicted a few years back we'd switch into a cooling phase. If he's wrong and we warm up in the next few years he's wrong but at the moment he's right, you have to hand it to him, the glaciers only turned two years ago.I'm alright JackComment

A "diatribe of hysterical abuse" - oh my we are in SB exagerration mode today, aren't we?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostChina pollutes everywhere anyway and they now have a stronger mandate to do something about it. By accepting the AGW argument then again this enables them to exert more control over its people.
Anyone who disagrees or questions you is treated to a diatribe of hysterical abuse on this subject which is why no one here is buying your evidence. If one looks at the motley bunch of self serving ars**les promoting AGW then you might begin to further understand why your view is being so comprehensively challenged.
You're not even logical. How does the AGW argument "enable more control over its (China's) people". Do they say look people, stop working in these polluting factories and do something less polluting? We don't want the power of China being rich anymore, go back to your fields you horrible polluters

If I am getting hysterical its from laughter at the absolute poverty and ridiculousness of of the so-called "arguments" being put forward.

Who's responsibility is it to deal with AGW?Originally posted by sasguru View PostA "diatribe of hysterical abuse" - oh my we are in SB exagerration mode today, aren't we?

Answer the government.
If the population is sufficiently scared of something they will give more power to the govt to do something about it. Do you want another example?
try terrorism. Courtesy of our fears over terrorist attacks the police can now stop and search anyone for any reason.
If you think that our politicians believe in global warming then you are a fool (you are a fool anyway-but that's another matter). The Tories understand that there are sufficient votes to be had in perpetuating fear of AGW, so why would they deny it?Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

As a non-global-scientist, I can only go by what I'm told.
Al Gore told me the northern ice cap is shrinking. Then I see photos of submarines surfacing at the pole 50 years ago and satellite images of today showing it is about the same size as 30 years ago.
The University of East Anglia, a government-funded fount of knowledge about AGW, is found to be manipulating its data.
Now it seems that glaciers aren't melting after all.
The whole house of cards is beginning to fall down, isn't it.Comment

So logically AGW must not be happening then.
I'm beginning to see where I'm going wrong, I'm relying too much on logical thinking and I don't beleive enough about the global conspiracy that has:
1. all politicians salivating at the propect of increased taxes
2. all scientists having sold their souls to the great GW swindle
Is it the Bilderbergers do you think or the Jews?
Anyway its about time they got a massive conspiracy like this one working - they haven't succeeded before.

The fascinating thing is the parallel between the "ice age" in the 1970's argument, which principally was brought into question by sizzling hot summers, the same thing has happened, a bunch of cold winters have torpedoed Global Warming. More worrying is that the sunspot cycle is delayed, which happened in the middle ages, causing an ice age.
