I agree - for example I find a number of armed police shootings questionable, such as one with that guy carrying wooden leg, or the other guy who got shot dead while driving wrong way on motorway.

But from what I hear about this case it seems to be if there was a justified shooting by the police then this is the one. Investigation is going on and I look forward to details, but I would be extremely suprised if police won't get acquitted.

MACBETH: Methought I heard a voice cry 'Sleep no more!
Macbeth does murder sleep', the innocent sleep,
Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleeve of care,
The death of each day's life, sore labour's bath,
Balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course,
      Chief nourisher in life's feast,--

LADY MACBETH: What do you mean?

MACBETH: Still it cried 'Sleep no more!' to all the house:
'Glamis hath murder'd sleep, and therefore Cawdor
Shall sleep no more; Macbeth shall sleep no more.'

      ....

      MACBETH: Whence is that knocking?
How is't with me, when every noise appals me?
What hands are here? ha! they pluck out mine eyes.
Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood
      Clean from my hand?
No, this my hand will rather
      The multitudinous seas in incarnadine,
      Making the green one red.

        Atw,

While I agree with your opinion that the guy was stupid to run, I have to disagree that he, therefore, deserved the plight he suffered.

I think you'd be surprised at the numbers of ordinary stupid folk out there who would also, in the heat of the moment, have chosen to run. I appreciate that police have a job to do in preventing further suicide bombings but have serious misgivings about them adopting a policy which does not account for the stupidity some ordinary people will inevitably display when confronted by armed men.

So what should the police do, ALM, when challenging someone they believe to be carrying a bomb who then runs off heading for the nearest public transport target? Let them go as they are probably just stupid?

            Before rushing to judgement

Before rushing to judgement of either the Police or the Brazilian

remember its always wise to walk a mile in the other guys shoes.

That way, when he finds out you will be a mile away and he will have no shoes

What they should have done is raided the house at 4 O'Clock in the morning and apprehended everyone while at their lowest ebb!

BTW, the people who shot the Brazilian weren't Police Officers.

There's only one group of men in the UK trained for such operations and they're not police officers.

Those guys belonged to the armed section of the MET. There is no conspiracy here.

Also was really p1ssed at the beeb on saturday night running a story about the guys family calling the police incompetent and so on. The story served absolutely no useful purpose YET the beeb ran it simply for its ratings it would get form running such a story.

IMO they have got to be a lot more certain that the individual is actually a suicide bomber. There appear to have been a series of blunders on the police's part. First of all they were wasting resources monitoring a bunch of innocent people. When a asian looking man, wearing a puffy jacket failed to stop and ran onto a train they saw it fit fire 5 bullets into his skull. IMO this does not demonstrate the required caution they should be exercising when choosing to shoot somebody dead.
