    Untouchable

Mrs just got out of Court.

Magistrate asked if she had legal representation as he was going to disqualify her. She hadn't so he was about to go ahead when the court clerk handed him a letter from Leeds City Council stating she needed the car to fulfill her responsibilties and bingo .. £200 fine and 5 points.

A very relieved Gibbon I can tell you, I was going to have to stay sober when we went out and do the shopping etc.

Yes it is. It is however not illegal to have a garage door opener on your car. Also its not illegal to have it go "faulty" and try to open the garage 24/7

I wonder how much it costs to get one of those ace lawyer types to draw-up a smart letter to get one off?

The sort that get you off when you've driven at 110 MPH into a bus shelter full of grannies, whilst 3 times over the limit, wearing a human head as a party hat?

A friend of mine claims that someone he knew got a QC in at about £1000 to argue his case in the county court.

Judge was so put off by the constant objections from the QC on points of law, that he dished out a huge fine, but no ban or penalty points.

That's more like it. We can't go banning first time offenders for a paltry 93mph on a motorway when off-duty coppers are let off for doing 156mph because they were "testing their reflexes".

Why would that be? Safety Cameras are there to encourage drivers to keep below the speed limit, so how can a device which draws your attention to the presence of a Safety Camera, and thereby ensures that you will drive below the speed limit, be illegal?
