    Chan

6 points, got a year to go before they stop counting towards a ban for having 12 points.
If you find this post offensive, please insert "Chan" before and "tho" after, then it should be OK.

You're right, Troll, that seems very harsh for Mrs Gibbon. I got done doing 93 on a dual carriageway (70 limit) in 1996. Pleaded guilty through the post and got 5 points and a £125 fine.

Is she a persistent offender and/or been banned before? Record of no insurance or some such?

You mean you was doing 93 and your wife is kind enough to take the points for you?

Only for another 5 years or so, when her department goes out to private tender.

She'll get a golden handshake and pick up a lucrative role with the private provider.

In answer to Spartacus, she has a clean licence up until today.

She's in at 10, so I'll let you know later.

I'm stunned. Please do keep us posted. Things have got out of hand if you can be banned for doing a motorway 93mph on a first offence (assuming she wasn't doing it in thick fog or something, but that would be a more serious dangerous driving charge if so).

Does anyone know what the 'unofficial' speed limit is for motorways? Everyone does more than 70 these days, but they're not dishing out 100,000's tickets per day so what speed would you have to do before they send you a nice invitation to attend a party with the man in the funny wig?

I've heard it is +10% + 2 (i.e. 79). I typically drive around 80ish when the road and visibility is clear

Yeah missed by a country mile.

Too much going on in my head. Wife in court and I'm waiting for confirmation that I've got the gig I interviewed for yesterday.

Spartacus, good conditions and fairly empty. She was in a county with bad road traffic stats and they are clamping down on speeding drivers.
