The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Oh, I do that - so they switch scripts for a while, and then it's back to normal as soon as there's an offer on the table and money comes up.

I've only ever dealt with one agent who I'd be happy to sit and have a beer with - and he was the exception that proves the rule (a developer himself, ran a small-scale agency as a favour to friends in the business).

                  Agent/Agencies

Some of the CV/Lead Trawlers I have come across

                  Gary Strong -- Abraxas
                  Adams -- Networkers International
Gary Rosslee -- -- Networkers International
                  Peter Mildon -- Antal International
                  Jo Wederell -- Absolute Applications
                  Andrew Thurstans -- Maximus

                  Seems endless.....

Quite right BP, honestly reading this site I do wonder if perhaps its been hijacked by the Socialist Worker.

Agents are trying to drum up business, hopefully you will be the benefactor but if they get a lead on a site youve been placed before and somebody else gets a contract (providing of course its not YOUR contract!) then so what ?

Some of the comments on this thread really are quite bitter and very unkind towards the agent - but when the market is down and contracts are hard to come by - and you really need some help to get a placement - my oh my -how you will change your tune then.

Anyway - time for my evening Caber Tossing.

                    Pip-Pip !

Just had a very interesting chat with an agent. They put my CV forward for a role, but won't tell me who the client is, and won't until they say if they want to interview me. He said it's because they don't want other agents to find out that the client is looking for people. Then he said that's how they get most of their business - by "stealing" (he used that word) them from other agents by extracting the information from unsuspecting contractors. He said "We're professionals at it". Knob.
