you have mentioned them numerous times in a thread about a soap opera changing their set to reflect the change in ethnic makeup in London. I didn't see it as any more controversial than Chicken Tikka Masala taking over as the national dish.

You seem to suggest that because the Pope told the faithful their reward would come in heaven if they freed newly Muslim occupied Jerusalem so all faiths could use it again it has some relevance to a fake mosque in a fake East end. I'm worried your misinterpretation of a centuries old feud makes you believe it has any relevance now.

You steered it towards the direction its going.

Did you read the thread? I was responding to some outrageous crap being said about Islam implying it was the sole province of evil on earth or something similar. The Crusades were only brought in to indicate that Islam has no monopoly people carrying out atrocities in the name of the faith.

And my reply was that the Crusades were a really bad example as the Muslims started it. The Pope overreacted and it all got stupid.

You may think I'm attacking Islam but I like many other posters on here are pretty scathing about all extremes of religions.

I truly believe religion can be a positive force for many people however if you want a really nasty war you need 'God to tell you to do it'. I think most of the people who do that are Nutters and that doesn't just mean Islam it means all the religions.

And fighting the Muslims who conquered Jerusalem required massacring Jews and others on the way because...?

I also don't think you're attacking Islam. You've made some very sensible posts.

because 'God told them to do it' as I say nutters.

            thanks.

Personally I think they should write a new soap based on Bradford, where putting up another Mosque would not be seen as a shocker but actually positively encouraged as it help 'minorities' integrate.

              It's grim oop north

              For comparison:
              Culturally diverse London

Your raised the Crusades very early on when we discussing general ignorance versus specifics:

I'd have as legit a beef about Christianity because of the Crusades and the Inquisition if it was all about being against a religion because of the actions of extremists. I personally find the "love your neighbour" and "turn the other cheek" nonsense objectionable, but I wouldn't have a rant about a soap opera set building a church...

Yes, that was like: you have a problem with this, okay then I have a problem with that. Simples.

Hardly. The crusades were centuries ago and as vetran said, a bad example in any case.

You suggested that people needed to be ignorant to be anti-Islam, which is a bizarre assertion.

Only if that's the only religion you have a problem with.

But the Crusades are a good example: murdering faithful acting under the aegis of the church seems even better evidence that the faith itself is broken than the Saudi justice system.
