    ok, you've just built/bought a new pc/mac and it has the vanilla version of the OS of your choice on it, what useful programs do you always then install to get the machine the way you prefer.

      Checks date carefully for another trap.

      Can't be bothered to list them all as many specific to me but I find Textpad excellent gen purpose tool. You can make notes of things as they come up, paste 1st line at top of page as an index, then simple macro lets you find the right note instantly.

              I'm waiting to see NickFitz's list.

              Thumbs up for NotePad++, and I require Skype for work. Probably Office and Visual Studio are the other must-haves.

                UltraEdit FTW, been using it for 14 years. Even have the unlimited upgrade licence, also UltraCompare.
                Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.
