    Sooooo. Permissions?
    Everyone - Full control

    applied to c:\wamp\www\bugzilla > onwards

you would think permissions from a 500 error but the path not found bit confuses the hell out of me

    log output is woeful

for example "Path not found". Path to what?

I can run checksetup.pl happily and it tells me to install some additonal packages

    fair enough

    ppm install TimeDate ok
    ppm install DateTime

ppm install failed: Can't determine best

    gee thanks

    nothing works

stuff should not be this hard.

Seriously, why would anyone use bugzilla if it's such a ball ache to set up?

it does in that I get a new error

        Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /bugzilla/ on this server.
it's actually a relief to get a different error

trouble is, if "everyone" user doesn't have permission then I'm a tad stumped.

Thanks for your help guys, it's nice not to feel so alone.

I just get the feeling that anything I try to touch tonight will turn to rattulip so I'm off to bed.

I did find this but prob a good idea to go and sleep on it.

And you are welcome. It's not nice being on your own sometimes.

                  What's in your config file's <Directory C:/wamp/bin/apache/Apache2.2.11/wamp> section?

EDIT: also, is the shebang (the first line of the script, starting "#!") pointing to the perl executable?

                    Code:
                    <Directory "c:/wamp/www/">
                        #

                        #
                        # Note that "MultiViews" must be named *explicitly* --- "Options All"
                        # doesn't give it to you.

Have you got "AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl" in there?

Also, have you restarted Apache after making changes? That's something I sometimes forget to do

And also check the shebang thing mentioned above.
