    Which Speakers?

Looking among the several PC speakers available and don't which to choose!

I'm into reggae/dub so good bass is very important without rattling the grill/box.

Crisp treble is important, too. I don't really want a subwoofer as I've always had Hi-Fi/speakers with good bass built in and find subs a bit gimmicky or for those who want a 'cinema surround sound' experience.

    Bercow or Martin?

Oh. Not that sort of speaker?

      As you're asking, Bercow.

Unlike audio speakers, Martin mumbled and had no clarity.

Have a look at the Creative Gigaworks range as well as those in the Paradigm range. Used them both and they work well. Get the option with the 8 channel amp and seperate bass and sub woofers and you wont go wrong.

So in a typical home set up, where do you put a subwoofer?

I've got my desk against a wall, so putting one on the floor in the middle means I'd end up kicking the thing.

Move your desk out a bit and put the speaker behind on the floor. I once saw someones setup that had it hanging from the ceiling.

Hanging in the air? On string? What a bizarre idea.

I have often marvelled at how surprisingly good the Logitech range of speakers can sound. And most of them hardly cost the earth. Worth a look IMO.
