Bearing in mind you can run Mac OS X on a PC, does that really apply?

I need to run windows, so if I would by a mac it would only be for the hardware. And they do look nice but I am not sure I am arty enough to have one.

I will need a good size screen real estate so I was looking at getting one with a resolution of 1900 x 1200.

I've got the Dell Precision M65 15.4" screen at 1900 x 1200
Works fine for me, although a lot of people who look at it seem amazed that I can read it.
In terms of screen real estate - I can open word docs and show 2 full pages and read/edit them

I can't read that on this 19 inch monitor, and I probably couldn't on the 21 inch one in my proper office...

I think the fact I'm long sighted and wear glasses to correct this helps me read the smaller stuff, there is a slight magnification

should also add, laptops generally have a higher resolution than the equivelent or even larger monitor. The 22" wide screen monitor I have in my office has a lower resolution than the laptop
Also make sure you use the clear type addon for windows... it makes everything a lot clearer

And I have glasses for short sigtedness - with the following reduction in size. I probably need a 24" laptop next year
