Animated avatars?

Perhaps new upgrade of the board had this new option that is on by default and admins just did not know about it. There seems to be no point in disabling nice animated avatars, those who don't like them can switch off avatar showing completely in their options.

Agree about animated avatars though, maybe sizes should be increased too - these days most people have broadband anyway.

I'd been trying to upload animated avatars since I joined. And when I couldn't speculated that there was some unspecified post count needed to obtain this holy concession. Obviously the reasons are not quite that sad. The avatar restrictions on the site are restrictive as they are, even without animated gifs, maybe we should start a protest campaign for the limitations to be eased.

Some graphics packages will do it. Paint Shop Pro does at least, but not well (picture resize, but not canvas resize).

This site really needs inlined images back with a ban for posting NSFW content - lack of inline images killed a lot of good banter on this board, especially "Caption competition"

Yes, I was saddened to see that this site didn't allow inline images. People could just turn them off. BTW very simple aimated GIfs are possible here, since Ive uploaded some containing just two images (frames) before, but not been able to upload anything more complex than that.
