There’s a lesson in all of this, don’t fall victim to lifestyle inflation when you pick up good day rate contracts.
It just keeps you trapped in the rat race longer than you should be if you’re earning double or treble what the permie colleagues are getting because your sky high expenses they...
Just saw a role posting stating:
(Agent's Note: An important factor to accept is that, ONLY whilst remote, this assignment is billable on a 543 model; work 5 days, charge for 3. This is only temporary / whilst my client is adhering to Government policy to work from home. Does that sound ideal...
Tough times on this search:
- Phones not ringing
- My network will keep an eye out but unsure of their own roles
- Job boards have roles but I’m 1:3000
- It’s a recruiters market, they’re ignoring the direct email/LinkedIn approach and no office phones to reach them either. Just saw one...
I’m finding that there are so many public sector roles and hardly and on the private contract side.
Problem is I can’t get a look in as they all expect some sort of clearance level being DV, SC etc
...How about that topic the state of the market, anyone landed contacts recently, any leads, benched and if so how long?

Go for it, it’s possibly the worst time but be ready to leave your current role and upset people you’ve worked with for years when you find a contract and the new gig ask you to start on Monday.
You can’t please everyone but it’s about you and as you mention these are the same people who are...
This is why many of us don’t want to be in permanent positions with titles and appraisals. Who’s to say that a candidate with degree level education 15 years of experience of R + Python, ML and other related fields isn’t in fact a better candidate than one with at least a MSc, preferable PhD you...
I would say go for it if contracting is what you want. Just know that right now is seriously uncertain times with IR35, Brexit and the seasonal freeze that slows down perm as well as contract recruitment until the early parts of the new year.
It’s great that you currently have a perm role so...
Don’t give up, keep plugging away there are roles out there!
I was saying the same two weeks ago when my phone wasn’t ringing while looking at the same roles over and over on the job boards. I was ready to face the New Year on the bench but I’ve now landed a gig.
Just be relentless
Pimpin ain’t easy
For £200pd
“Manage team of 7 shift based staff who complete a multitude of roles with the data center and over the wider global operation”
I’ll just behind over this barrel now shall I
In times like these we all need to be resourceful and start cutting back. I’m sure the £800pw can be reduced.
Cut back on the luxuries, save the money, that will build the warchest, that’ll help when looking for a role closer to home.
The cheek of it!
After a speculative call with no role just introducing himself, the pimp sends me this!
“Thanks so much for your time today, I really do appreciate it.
I have updated your info onto my system with your up to date CV
If you could get me across some names of previous...
