Because prostitutes are an easy target - if the powers that be in this country were a bit more forward thinking the prostitution would be legalised and regulated and the women would be safe. Instead they are fined and stigmatised and easy targets for the local loonies. At least these women are actually working for a living unlike the 2 million great unwashed living on our taxes.

Absolutely agree with you John.

Unfortunately many of the girls out on the street are also drug addicts. Drug addiction treatment is at the bottom of the pile for NHS priorities. In most towns and cities there is a six month waiting list for treatment and the treatment centres are almost Dickensian in the way they operate. The authorities are aware on what needs to be done but they held back a voiced minority of influential pubic.
