Up here it gets you a 4 bedroom detached with a golf course in your garden.

Where I used to live, it would get you four beds and a pool, with a big garden.
That was in the South-West..... of France.

None of which will be cheap.

I live in the Thames Valley, well nearly, and so far the contract jobs I've had have been in Southampton and Bristol, and the best leads I've had for jobs I didn't get were in Cambridge. I'm beginning to think the Thames Valley thing is a bit of a myth.

I rent rather than own and to be honest I've found that even places like Henley are the same price renting-wise as places like Reading or Slough. So if you rent, you may as well rent in one of the nicer places.

Just for a laugh I put in 200-250K, 2 bedrooms and London into PrimeLocation.com

I was expecting to only get back a few rubbish places; but it came back with loads. On first glance some look OK.
